SURGE SUPPRESSORS PASS SWC TEST
Tempe, AZ—Circuit Components Inc.
have been notified that their SAB and SPU Series of surge suppressors
were recently tested
and certified to IEEE C37.90 1-1989 Standard Surge Withstand Capability
(SWC) and Electrical Fast Transients Tests for Protective Relays
and Relay Systems.
Testing requirements were specified by Rockwell Automation Engineers.
Testing was conducted through an independent testing organization
under the supervision of Rockwell Automation Application Specialists.
The testing set-up consisted of a complete operating SLC 500 System
with Local Chassis, Power Supplies, SLC 500 Analog I/O Modules and
SLC Processor. Ladder logic programs run in the SLC 500 System monitored
and exercised inputs and outputs under test and logged errors or
processor malfunctions.
Once CCI’s SAB and SPU Series of
surge suppressors/electronic filters were incorporated into the
SLC 500 System, no out-of-tolerance
errors were
noted. This ensured that the SCL 500 System, I/O modules and field instrumentation
will continue to operate satisfactorily even when installed in the harsh
environment of a substation or switchyard. The test set-up was also
exposed to higher duration
and peak transient values to ensure no equipment failure, even during severe
lightning activity.
CCI offers a broad range of electrical suppression and filtering devices with
a product line numbering over 200 models providing the most comprehensive product
line for transient suppression/filtering in the in the industry.
